Software & App Localization

Full product localization from Italian to English and vice versa: UI strings, help documentation, app store listings, email sequences, and marketing sites.

Software & App Localization

Localisation is not translation with renamed buttons

A product is localised when it feels as if it was built for that market. Italian users have specific expectations around formality of address (tu vs Lei), date and number formatting, legal disclosures that reference Italian consumer law, and communication tone that reads as natural rather than imported. Software translated word-for-word from English rarely meets these expectations. Software that has been properly localised does.

We have worked with software companies expanding into Italian and with Italian companies internationalising their products into English and other European languages. In both directions, the approach is the same: experienced product linguists working with your team, not just against string tables.

What we localise

  • UI string files (.json, .po, .strings, .resx, .xliff, YAML, and others)
  • In-app help content, tooltips, and contextual guidance
  • Knowledge base articles and support documentation
  • Developer-facing API documentation
  • App Store and Google Play listings and screenshots text
  • Marketing websites and landing pages
  • Email sequences and user onboarding flows
  • Terms of service, privacy policies, and GDPR notices

Working with your engineering team

We accept string files in all standard i18n formats. If you use a localisation platform such as Phrase, Lokalise, Crowdin, or Transifex, we can work directly within those environments with translator access. For teams working with Git-based localisation workflows, we can accept branches and return pull requests. We fit into your process rather than requiring you to change it.

Italian-specific considerations

Italian text typically runs 15 to 20 percent longer than equivalent English text. UI components designed for English strings will need to accommodate this expansion without layout breakage. We flag string length issues during translation and can provide character-limited versions of translations where hard UI constraints exist. Italian consumer law also requires specific formulations for subscription cancellation, automatic renewal disclosures, and withdrawal rights that must be reflected in product copy.
